Week-long Joburg street art festival kicks off

The City Of Gold Urban Art Festival 2015 kicks off for the fifth year this weekend. The idea of the festival is to assist with growth of the local street art community by establishing Johannesburg as a destination for urban artists from around the world.

The City Of Gold Urban Art Festival 2015, the 5th edition of this landmark Johannesburg event, kicks off this weekend.

The aim of City Of Gold is to assist the growth of the local street art community by establishing Johannesburg as a destination for urban artists from around the world. The festival aims to provide a platform for exchange and interaction between local and international artists and gives younger developing artists invaluable inspiration and skills.

Organised by Grayscale Concepts, the City of Gold Urban Art Festival provides the local scene with cultural and creative exchange, while at the same time adding a beautiful aesthetic to the urban environment, thus playing a crucial role in urban regeneration.

Individual events and mural projects will attempt to activate and enhance public sites in the Johannesburg CBD and highlight the positive aspects of this art form by showcasing the finest in both international and local graffiti. The week long festival includes mural projects spanning the Johannesburg CBD, walking street art tours, and two graffiti exhibitions.

Huawei goes ultra-premium

Porsche Design and Huawei have launched the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS in South Africa exclusive to MTN and retailing for R 26 459.

The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS boasts features like the world’s first dual fingerprint design, including an in-screen fingerprint sensor, the world’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) processor and Leica triple camera with 40MP image capture.

The device incorporates Porsche Design’s signature design language and Huawei’s breakthrough technology.  The phone has a 6” 2K curved OLED screen and symmetrical look, minimalist feel and 8-edged 3D curved glass body.

High performance is symbolised by the naming of the smartphone: the term “RS” in the world of Porsche motorsport stands for outstanding racing performance.
