The second wave of Nokia Lumia smartphones,
the flagship Nokia Lumia 900 and the affordable Lumia 610, are expected to land
in South Africa towards the end of June. This brings the number of Lumia
smartphones in South Africa to four with the two new arrivals joining the
already available Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710.
In addition to the arrival of new devices,
Nokia also shared the news that the Lumia 900 will be available first with
operator MTN, expected in stores on June 28th. In addition to the
Lumia flagship, MTN customers will also be able to get their hands on the
affordable Nokia Lumia 610 as well as the Lumia 710. The device will be brought
to life through an innovative campaign leveraging Nokia’s exclusive global
partnership with Warner Bros, and the forthcoming smash hit The Dark Knight
Rises. The partnership will involve various co-branded marketing efforts, both
online, in retail and on the Lumia smartphones, and will include chances for
consumers to buy limited edition Lumia 900 smartphones engraved with the Batman
logo.
The Nokia Lumia 900 took the world by storm
when unveiled globally at January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas,
emerging with more than eight awards including the sought after ‘Best of CES
2012’. The smartphone features a 4.3 inch ClearBlack AMOLED display for a
superior touch and viewing experience, is equipped with Nokia's highest
capacity battery, and a primary camera featuring exclusive Carl Zeiss optics.
It is also the first Lumia to feature a front-facing camera bringing video
calling out of the box.
The Lumia 610, which opens up a younger
audience to the rich social experience Windows Phone provides, rounds off the
complete Lumia offering. The device is Nokia's fourth and most affordable Lumia
smartphone, and helps people keep in touch with friends by providing instant
access to social networks and email contacts in one place. With a
distinctive profile and finely beveled metallic edges, the Nokia Lumia 610
comes in a variety of distinctive colours including white, cyan, magenta and
black.
Further details on packages and pricing will
be given during June.
